Microwave Chocolate Mousse Panna Cotta

The term panna cotta means in Italian cooked cream. It is a dessert from the Piedmont region, and its preparation uses sugar, cream and jellies.

It is like a white flan, which is decorated with red fruits. Its flavor is very dairy and has a texture similar to gelatin. Come on, it’s a delight. The  panna cotta can be accompanied by strawberries, raspberries, blackberries … or rum, vanilla, liquid caramel, etc.

It can also have variations in its preparation, such as having cream cheese, or being chocolate, as we are going to do in this recipe.

Today we are going to show you how to make a microwave chocolate mousse panna cotta. Normally, it is usually cooked in a double boiler, but in the microwave it is equally delicious and is very fast.

A fresh, smooth and delicious dessert, suitable to take at any time of the year. It will delight children and those with a sweet tooth, since chocolate is the strongest temptation that has ever existed.

Also, on this occasion, we are going to show you how to make your chocolate mousse panna cotta in the microwave, so that using the right containers for this appliance, you can have your dessert ready in just a few minutes.

You will only need a few ingredients, where creams cannot be missing, to be able to present this Italian dessert on a special occasion, event or on any given day during the week.

Without further ado, we are going to make this recipe in the purest Italian style.

Ingredients

For the panna cotta

  • ½ liter of cream
  • 100g sugar
  • 3 sheets of neutral gelatin

For the mousse

  • 200 g of dark chocolate.
  • 100 ml of whipping cream.
  • 200 ml more cream to whip.

Preparation

We make the panna cotta

  • We whip the cream with an electric mixer in a bowl and, once assembled, we reserve it in the fridge.
  • We will put the sugar and cream in a container suitable for the microwave. We will cook it for three minutes. We stir well. We put another three minutes more.
  • While the sugar and cream are cooking in the microwave, soak the gelatin sheets in cold water until hydrated.
  • Afterwards, we will drain them well and we will add them one by one to the mixture of the cream with the sugar.
  • We stir everything well.
  • We pour this mixture into individual glasses or glasses and let them cool in the fridge for about forty minutes. Meanwhile, we will prepare the chocolate mousse.

  • We break all the chocolate into pieces and put them in a microwave-safe container.
  • Add 100 ml of cream to that bowl and heat at low power for about two minutes.
  • We stir and heat a few more minutes, until it melts completely.
  • Once the chocolate and cream have melted, we mix it with the whipped cream that we had cooling in the fridge. We mix well and delicately.
  • We add this chocolate mousse on top of the panna cotta glasses that were cooling in the fridge, checking first that it is already set.
  • Let the panna cotta with chocolate mousse cool  in the microwave in the refrigerator, at least one hour.
  • Take it out of the fridge a little before consuming it, so that the flavors can be felt more.

Advice

  • You can add the chocolate mousse by putting it in a piping bag. In this way it will be more beautiful and with a better presentation.
  • You can decorate with chocolate shavings on top.
  • If you don’t want to, you can also decorate with red berries, like a conventional panna cotta.
  • You can vary the chocolate mousse for other flavors : lemon, strawberry, vanilla, caramel, etc.
