Data of interest

  • The margarine must be cold when you prepare your apple tart, otherwise you will not achieve the texture of the shortcrust pastry.
  • You will know that the apple tart is ready when it looks golden on the outside and the filling is bubbly.
  • Mixing the butter is easier if you place margarine cubes in the center of the flour. Start adding the other ingredients from the center out.
  • When you cover the base of the mold with the dough, remember to prick it with a fork to prevent it from rising.
  • In case you don’t want to make the dough, you can use puff pastry.
  • For the filling you can not only use fruits, you can also fill with creams and a wide variety of products, including salty ones.
  • When stirring the flour with the cold margarine, we want it to trap as much of the gluten as possible, separating it from the wet ingredients. Gluten provides elasticity to doughs, which is precisely why we try to isolate it.
  • If you wish, you can prepare a meringue to cover the apple tart as decoration, another option that you can use is whipped cream and chopped fruit.
  • If you want to make a grid-style decoration, stretch the dough with the rolling pin and cut a circle with the guide of the mold. The circle is cut into strips and the filling is covered by making a basket braid.
