Mint Truffles

It only takes 3 ingredients to make these delicious Mint Chocolate Truffles ! Its flavor reminds us of chocolate covered Oreo cheesecakes! In this recipe, we are going to show you a recipe book favorite, with these Oreo truffles, but with the mint flavor version.

Have you ever made Oreo truffles before? Whether or not you are familiar with making delicacies without cooking, this is the optimal recipe to get down to business, whether you are an expert in the kitchen or a complete newbie.

Mint truffles

Data:

  • For: 30-35 truffles
  • Total time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Oreo cookies, 250 gr.
  • 1 tub of unflavored cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 chocolate bar to melt or melt (black, milk or white)

To decorate:

  • 1 package of peppermint soft candies
  • A few ounces of chocolate to melt
  • Green food coloring

Preparation

  • First, you take a package of Oreo cookies and crush them. Either in the mincer or with patience with the classic: mallet and mortar. Next, you will have to beat the crumbs with a tub of softened cream cheese in a large bowl.
  • Next, you have to knead and form balls. Place the balls on plates with parchment paper in rows so they don’t stick to each other.
  • You can make a tablespoon and a half of the mixture for each truffle. The mixture is very wet, but you can knead the mixture and form the balls without any problem. Then you will have to place them on a plate and freeze them.
  • Freeze the truffles for about 30 minutes.
  • Chop the chocolate and melt according to the instructions on the package. Work with 1 truffle at a time, to make the chocolate layer.
  • Place on a lined baking sheet.

Why do we freeze truffles?

The cold and solid truffles will allow them to be dipped into the chocolate afterwards without any problem. If they are room temperature or still soft, they will crumble into the melted chocolate.

So always freeze them for at least 30 minutes before dipping them into the melted chocolate.

How to dip truffles in chocolate?

It is very simple, we go step by step:

  • Melt the pure chocolate in a bowl or deep pot.
  • Drop a truffle in the middle of the chocolate.
  • Shake and collect the truffle with a fork (do not pierce, just pick it up at the top with the help of the fork or two forks).
  • Tap the rim of the mug with your fork to allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  • Place on a baking sheet to rest and cool.

Of course, mint truffles don’t have to be perfect. They are chocolate, Oreo cookies, and cream cheese. People are going to love it. What matters is the flavor, not so much if the perfect balls.

The chocolate can be to taste: dark, milk or white chocolate. They are all perfect!

Grab some peppermint candies that aren’t too strong in flavor. A packet of softened peppermints will be perfect. Try to avoid the ones that are Pictolin type, as they taste too strong.

Melt them in a saucepan along with a few ounces of chocolate, whichever you prefer (black, milk or white). When everything melts, add a few drops of green food coloring. Made a perfect green mix, add it to a pastry bag and create decorative patterns on each truffle.

Chill the peppermint truffles in the fridge for at least 10 minutes. They can also stay fresh for up to 5 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to 2-3 months. Thaw in the fridge before serving.

Do not use chocolate chips, they are not intended for coating.
